Trans Voices: Banner Making for Change
Workshop at the Museum of Liverpool – Saturday 29 March 2025
I recently had the joy of running a banner-making workshop at the Museum of Liverpool as part of events marking Trans Day of Visibility. Titled Trans Voices: Banner Making for Change, the workshop offered a space for attendees to speak out, get creative, and share what matters to them—through the power of art and protest banners.
The workshop was really well attended, with a brilliant mix of people from across the community and beyond. Together, we explored questions like What do you want to say? What brings you joy? What would you like to change? Using these prompts, participants created bold, moving, and empowering banners full of colour, care, and courage.
I was so grateful for the fantastic support from the Museum of Liverpool team, who helped ensure the session was welcoming, safe, and accessible for everyone who took part. The atmosphere in the space was something really special—calm, focused, supportive, and full of conversation.
After the workshop, the finished banners were displayed across the museum’s atrium and performance space for the whole weekend, forming a collective artwork that celebrated trans lives, voices, and visibility. It was powerful to see such a vibrant collection of messages on show in a public space—made by and for the community.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along and contributed. Your voices matter. You were seen, heard, and celebrated.
